Disappointed.Book itself is lovely and printed in a large format (tabloid/coffee table.) However, the book I received had the cover incorrectly assembled backward and upside down to the inside content - I don't think that was part of the faux "fun" intended by the actual exhibition. The illustrations were lacking - I was hoping for more accurate drawings and not just drawings made to look old.I was excited to get the book, as I was quite taken by the documentary movie and have ordered the accompanying book/ catalog. I am an artist and I enjoy the work's whimsy and artistry presented in the exhibition in Italy. When I learned there were drawings that accompanied the works (sculptures, artifacts, etc.) in the exhibition, I was intrigued. I have always enjoyed the simple elegance and impactful power of studies, drafts, and finished drawings. However, this recently purchased book felt like a rip-off given the shabby printing/assembly of the book itself, the costly price, and the poor presentation of the drawings. I am very happy Amazon provides a sensible (no hassle) return policy.
After watching the amusing movie, I wanted to look carefully at the artworks. This book was well assembled andVery enjoyable. We collect art books of all sorts and this was a well edited and constructed book. You need notBe Hirst fan to enjoy it, but certainly if you appreciate the entire concept -his art work and the fictional mocumentary, the Venice exhibitYou will find the book very delightful.
The Book is of high quality but the show which it was based on left me feeling ripped off after I found out it was not a real shipwreck and just a make believe show. It fooled me!
Fascinating......the ability to create wonder......rare
